Welcome to Williams Memorial Library at WHS!

The Williams Memorial Library Media Center is open every normal school day from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for students to read, study quietly, perform Internet searches if they have parental permission, type and print papers, or complete other homework projects.

The people who will help you at the library are Mrs. Cogliser and Mrs. McKeon.  Please stop at the main desk to drop off your pass, sign in, greet them, and ask for help so you can have a successful library visit.

There are eight computer stations for student use. Four of these stations are reserved for word processing only so students should always have a computer available to complete written assignments. The remaining four, at stand-up stations, will be for Internet or card catalog searches, quick notes, or printing of ‘saved’, imported material.  There is also a coin-operated photocopier available for students to use (thanks to the generosity of the WHS Parent-Teacher Organization).

Suggested links to valuable on-line resources:

www.iconn.org      (If you are at home, you must use your public library card number as your password.  Access is direct if you are logging on at school.)

This site has a wealth of information from newspapers, magazines, brochures, reference books and other materials.  It will help you find information on current issues, historical data, science and medicine, and much more.  Use it often.     ( This is site  is paid for by taxes collected from all Connecticut citizens.)

Rules:

We follow all school rules and policies and will reject students who do not do the same.

Paper passes are required for entry to the library and must be signed by the students’ study hall monitor or an administrator.  Agenda passes from a classroom teacher are accepted for ‘emergency’ needs.

It is expected that students will come to the library with a reading or homework need, and with the proper tools to accomplish this (textbooks, assignments, paper, writing utensils, a desire to read quietly). The library staff is friendly and willing to help any student who asks - - our goal is for every person to succeed with their class research and homework and to provide something enjoyable for them to read in their leisure time.
