3/17- Test on Byzantine and Islamic Empires-

Things to know:  Review Chapter 10 section 1 and class notes on the Byzantine Empire and its contributions.  Review Chapter 11 sections 1-4 on the rise and spread of Islam.  Also, review the events related to the 3 level timeline, questions about the spread of Islam throughout the world, and finally the decline of the empire. You must be able to explain how the intermingling of the cultures resulted in the spread of ideas and contributions and also how the fall of the Islamic Caliphate Empire compares with the fall of other civilizations we have studied.

3/11- HW- Map of Islamic Empire and Timeline, with questions due 3/12.  HW for 3/12- Poster of Contributions of Islamic world due 3/17.  Test on Byz and Is. 3/19

2/28- Test on Rome in class- Quiz on map of Rome will be Thursday March 6th.  For HW. Read Ch 10 section 1 answer questions 1-8 and Analyzing Charts on pg. 249 answer questions 26-29.

2/26- Test on Rome - Essay question- The Roman Empire would have fallen whether or not the barbarian groups invaded.  Agree or Disagree.  Short answer:  What are the two greatest contributions of the Roman Empire to the modern World?  Establish criteria and explain.  Map, Multiple Choice.  This test will be included on the Progress Reports.

2/12 - Reviewed Rise of Christianity, CAPT Activity, CE Quiz - HW for Thursday.  Generate a list of factors, internal and external that contributed to the fall of the Roman Empire.  This will be the essay question on the Unit Test.

2/8- Presented Roman Personalities-  HW: Read Section 3 Generate a list of the contributions of the Roman Civilization to the world, Read Section 4 Answer the following questions: 1. How did the early Christian Religion compare to the Roman Religion?    2. Why did it appeal to Romans of the time?  3. Describe how the religion spread.  4. Describe the organization of the early Christian church.  Current events quiz will be Tuesday.  Test on Rome will be the week of 2/19

1/31- Went over Rome introduction notes:  Homework: Using your text generate a list of the important dates that occur during the time of the Romans.  For each event list the date and a brief (1 sentence) description of the event.  Divide the events into 3 periods: Republic, Empire, Collapse

1/8 - Test Thursday 1/10 on Greece.  Test will include the following:  Map, Essay comparing Sparta and Athens related to American Culture today.  People, vocabulary, timeline events and contributions.  Project is due Thursday - Don't forget Rough Draft and Bibliography.

12/10 - Test on China will be on 12/10  Don't forget map on China and India will be on this one.  Know your dynasties and their contributions.  Review your vocabulary and people.  Finally, the Essay will will require you to compare Confucianism, Daoism, Legalism and Buddhism AND APPLY THEM TO SOLVE A MODERN PROBLEM!!!!

12/4- HW Project due on Friday - Complete Confucius cards- 1. Tell which of the 5 relationships the quote applies to, 2. Explain what it means, 3. Put it into modern phrases and 4. Make up your own advice for improving society in which you a) Identify a problem, b) say which of the 5 relationships it applies to and c) make up a snappy Confucian-esque saying for it.

11/21 - Homework for 11/27 - 1. Complete the reading/questions on the Indian Story that was left over after the test on Wed.

4/9-  Complete handouts distributed in class for Thursday and Friday.  Monday April 21 will be a 50/50 review day for the Cold War and The Crucible.  Tuesday will be the Cold War test, Wednesday will be The Crucible test.  Thursday and Friday will be the data analysis for the family survey that you completed before break.

2/1 - Quest on the Great Depression causes and Effects Monday 2/4.  Test will address the causes of the Great Depression, Hoover's Reactions, FDR's Programs for Relief Recovery and Reform.  Using your packet be prepared to explain which of the programs fall into which catagory.

4/9- We will continue our discussion of the role of the Bureaucracy in the Federal Government, complete the worksheets on the departments.  Be sure to have read the articles on Congress' role in limiting the Bureaucracy, Iron Triangles, and Bureaucratic Pathology.  Test will be on Wednesday 4/23.

12/21- Rough draft of the Campaign Finance paper due Friday 12/21.  Chapter 14 notes will be due after Vacation.  Final Campaign paper will be due the week of 1/7.  Test on Chapters 13 and 14 will be the week of 1/7.  Chapter 15 will follow and be tested the week before Midterms.
