Class Syllabus

This is a half year course that is designed to give you a broad overview of all the components that make up today's modern photography.

In general, here are the expectations of this class.  Each class member will be responsible for following and meeting these criteria.  Successfully following these guidelines will lead to a successful grade in this course.

1 Attendance: Attendance is mandatory. Tardiness is unacceptable.

2 Effort: Effort is always obvious and you will be graded accordingly.

3 Craftsmanship: The Quality of your work is very important and will be reflected in your grade.

4 Creativity: Did you solve the question in a unique and thoughtful way.

5 Respect: Respect for teacher, fellow students and materials.

6.Responsibility: You are responsible for any assigned equipment.  Anything lost, missing or stolen is your responsibility.

Grading

20% Participation - attendance and class effort.

20% Folder - All handouts, assignment, negatives and notes.

50% Artwork - All projects submitted on time and following stated objective.

10% Test and Quizzes -

Final Course Grade - 80% Marking Period, 20% Final Exam

Art 1- Foundations of Art       

 

This Course is a survey of the foundations neede for study and practice in the Visual Arts.  Art 1 is very comprehensive in nature, and will focus on drawing, opaque and transparent painting, pottery, sculpture, printmaking, photography and design.  The students will experience a variety of media, both two and three dimensional.  In addition to studio work, students will research major artist, art movements, and cultures as they pertain to each unit.

Course Requirement

1 keep and organized folder.

2 Construct well crafted works of art.

3 Research selected artist, project ideas, and art forms.

4 Complete all evaluations.

5 Meet all academic expectations appropriate to this course. 

Marking Period Grade

20% Participation- attendance and class effort.

20% Folder - Handouts, classwork and homework assignments, student notes and written work.

10% Sketchbook - Weekly drawing assignments.

40% Artwork - All work on time and following stated objectives.

10% Tests and Quizzes.

Final Course Grade - 80% Marking Period  20% Final Exam
